The collector of curious things

Wonder should leave a mark.

Christopher Bogucki is a Detroit-area magician and variety performer whose work lives where refined theatre meets the beautifully peculiar.

Known as the Dark Magi, Christopher combines Gothic magic, storytelling, bizarre illusion, escapes and sideshow traditions into performances with an atmosphere all their own. This is not horror pasted onto a card trick. Every object suggests a history. Every impossibility arrives with a story attached.

His work can be intimate and unsettling, playful and dangerous, or unexpectedly tender. The common thread is an artist who treats mystery as something worth taking seriously, even when the audience is laughing.

Gothic Magic

III

Fire & Wonder

Fire manipulation and physical impossibilities for suitable venues, handled by a veteran performer who knows spectacle needs control.

IV

Close Encounters

Intimate mysteries for guests standing only a few feet away. No velvet curtain to hide behind, although velvet itself remains encouraged.
